Euro-Mediterranean Forum for Young Researchers in Chios
Euro-Mediterranean Forum for Young Researchers
From April 13th to April 15th 2011, the Chios Institute for Mediterranean Affairs (CIMA), in
cooperation with the Hellenic Centre for European Studies (EKEM) and the Global
Political Trends Center (GPoT), will organise the first Euro-Mediterranean Forum for
Young Researchers in Istanbul (Turkey).
The Euro-Mediterranean Forum for Young Researchers aspires to be a meeting point for
young scholars and analysts engaged in research throughout the Mediterranean. To this
aim, the Forum promotes an interdisciplinary approach to scientific research on Euro-
Mediterranean issues. Participants will therefore be selected from various academic
backgrounds. Areas of expertise include: anthropology, sociology, history, geography,
economics, law, international relations, political science, communication and media
studies, migration, security and cultural studies.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to present their current research (PhD
theses, academic articles, policy briefs, research notes, etc.) and will receive feedback
allowing them to amend and improve their drafts. In addition, they will meet with peers
engaged in research activities throughout the Mediterranean and with representatives
from leading academic journals specialising in Mediterranean affairs (Mediterranean
Politics and International Journal of Euro-Mediterranean Studies). Finally, they will attend
three keynote lectures delivered by high profile researchers with a long-standing
experience of Euro-Mediterranean relations.
