Stephania Papadakis is the daughter of a friend of mine and at just 3 year old she has gone through more than anyone would ever want to go through in a lifetime.
Stephania was born with biliary atresia, a rare gastrointestinal disorder in newborns that destroys the bile ducts that carry bile from the liver to the intestine. Surgery at eight weeks old failed.
She suffered constant infections, fevers and itchiness and could not digest meals. On the 23rd of October at just 2 years of Age, she received the gift of Life, a liver transplant that would enable her and her family a second chance.
Stephania is not out of the wood works and is under constant supervision by the great team at Westmead Children’s Hospital.
As the first anniversary of her gift draws closer her friends at the Liver Transplant Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, still struggle with the wait of an donor who will give them too a chance of life.
I ask that you please help us raise much needed funds towards transplant research and find a cure for liver related diseases and help save the lives of seriously ill children.
